Celebrating a decade together with a special anniversary gig this week at the Salvage Station in Asheville, Fireside Collective has become a rapidly rising force in the Americana, bluegrass, and jam realms in Southern Appalachia and beyond. Lead singer and mandolinist, Jesse Iaquinto, reflects on their journey and musical influences.
Originally from the foothills of northern Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier region of New York, Iaquinto was introduced to bluegrass music at a young age. His love for the genre was reignited in college, especially after discovering the Grateful Dead and the work of bluegrass legend Bill Monroe.
Iaquinto’s musical journey took a significant turn when he picked up the mandolin at age 22. Inspired by artists like Sam Bush and Chris Thile, Iaquinto found the mandolin to be a versatile and expressive instrument that resonated with his musical sensibilities.
Formed in 2014 in the vibrant Asheville music scene, Fireside Collective started as a traditional bluegrass band, winning accolades and nominations from the International Bluegrass Music Association. Over time, the band evolved into a hybrid roots ensemble, incorporating diverse influences and experimenting with new sounds.
With the recent addition of drummer Michael Tillis, Fireside Collective is exploring new musical territories while staying true to their bluegrass roots. The band’s unique sound and dynamic performances have earned them a dedicated following and critical acclaim, propelling them to national recognition.
Fireside Collective will mark their 10th anniversary with a special show at the Salvage Station on March 16, where they will showcase their signature blend of Americana, bluegrass, and jam influences. The band’s passion for music and commitment to artistic growth continue to drive their success and inspire fans across the country.
