Sunny Skies Envelop Asheville as Music School Thrives and Healthcare Expands

Sunny Skies and Exciting Developments in Asheville

Asheville woke up to a refreshing morning of clouds but don’t worry—those clouds are on their way out! The afternoon promises to brighten up with some lovely sunshine. Today’s high is expected to reach around 40°F, with gentle winds coming from the northwest at about 10 to 20 mph. So, if you’re planning to step outside, a light jacket would be a great idea.

As night falls, temperatures are expected to drop to a brisk 23°F, with winds continuing from the northwest at around 10 to 15 mph. Make sure to bundle up if you’re heading out later!

Exciting Times for Asheville Music School

In other news, the Asheville Music School (AMS) continues to create meaningful impacts in our community by not only spreading the joy of music but also offering healing through art. Thanks to the generosity of many, AMS has awarded more than $100,000 in needs-based scholarships through the Paul Thorpe Music Education Fund. This fund is an essential part of AMS’s mission to make music education accessible for all, no matter their financial situation.

“The act of playing music became a form of therapy, where I could channel my pain and frustration into something beautiful,” shared Aiden Mitchell, a 14-year-old AMS student. Aiden’s words highlight how AMS’s programs help students not only learn music but also provide a crucial support system during challenging times.

As the year comes to a close, AMS has set an end-of-year fundraising goal of $9,250 to continue supporting scholarships, outreach programs, operations, student enrollment, and teacher retention. They welcome donations of any amount and offer both one-time and recurring giving options. Every little bit helps!

If you’re interested in supporting their mission, please reach out to Executive Director Ryan Reardon via email at ryan@ashevillemusicschool.org or visit their fundraising page.

New Faces in Healthcare

On the healthcare front, we have fantastic news as well! Dr. Nadeem Inayet has joined the AdventHealth team in Asheville, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in pulmonology and sleep medicine. He is board-certified in multiple specialties, ensuring that patients will receive top-notch care. Dr. Inayet’s experience includes managing patients in specialty ICUs and treating a broad range of disorders such as sleep apnea and asthma.

Dr. Inayet emphasized his commitment to treating patients with respect and compassion. “Under my care, patients can expect the highest quality of care,” he stated. His comforting philosophy aligns perfectly with the holistic approach to health care that AdventHealth promotes.

More Beds for Better Care

In more bright news for our healthcare community, the State of North Carolina has granted AdventHealth a Certificate of Need (CON) for an additional 26 beds at the new hospital in Weaverville. This approval expands the hospital’s total capacity to 93 beds, allowing for enhanced services to residents in Buncombe, Graham, Madison, and Yancey counties.

Brandon Nudd, president and CEO of AdventHealth’s hospitals in Western North Carolina, expressed excitement over this development, saying, “We are thrilled to receive this approval, which allows us to better serve our community’s health care needs.” The new hospital, located on more than 30 acres in Weaverville, is set to feature state-of-the-art technology and various patient services, including labor and delivery and an emergency department.

Greater healthcare capacity means better access for our community, and this is a significant step in the right direction!

Conclusion

As Asheville experiences sunny skies today amidst important community developments, it’s clear our city is thriving. From the effective programs at the Asheville Music School to the welcoming of Dr. Inayet at AdventHealth, it’s sunny with opportunities for support and growth. Here’s to brighter days ahead!
