Asheville Comes Together to Support Families Affected by Hurricane
Asheville is gearing up for a heartwarming community event aimed at bringing comfort and joy to families impacted by the recent hurricane. On Saturday, December 14th, families are invited to Hall Fletcher Elementary School from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a day of connection, support, and festive cheer. Hosted by Hive Mind Therapy, led by Sherree Turcott and in collaboration with the National Emergency Child Care Network and Asheville City Schools, this event promises to uplift spirits during a challenging time.
A Generous Offer of Support
The atmosphere will be filled with warmth as Sherree and her team prepare to distribute 400 therapeutic comfort boxes, alongside over 1,000 additional giveaways for children and families in need. With the collective efforts of various event contributors, they anticipate handing out more than 900 comfort kits to local families, ensuring no one in the community is left behind.
The National Emergency Child Care Network is a dedicated nonprofit organization that lends a helping hand to families in crisis, offering free emergency child care services. This year alone, they have assisted over 43 families and 69 children in western North Carolina. This event is not just about providing resources—it’s also about fostering a sense of togetherness and fostering hope in the community.
Participate and Make a Difference
This gathering isn’t only for families; it’s also an opportunity for local businesses and organizations. Vendors can reserve a free space to promote their products or services while engaging attendees through fun games, crafts, or giveaways. This provides a great platform for businesses to connect with the community while contributing to the event’s success.
Moreover, volunteers are essential! There’s a call for community members to join in various roles, from setting up before the event to helping with activities during the day. Volunteering here isn’t just an act of kindness; it’s a chance to be part of something meaningful, helping to create a memorable experience for families who have endured so much.
Community Spirit Shines Bright
“We’ve seen the incredible strength and resilience of our community in the wake of the hurricane,” Sherree Turcott shared. “As a mom in West Asheville and someone deeply passionate about supporting children and families, I am grateful to collaborate with Asheville City Schools and the National Emergency Child Care Network on this event to bring hope, joy, and resources to those who need them most.”
