Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay Returns for Eighth Year!

Asheville, NC is buzzing with excitement as the eighth annual Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay rolls around this Saturday, April 12. This exhilarating event brings together running enthusiasts and craft beer lovers for a memorable 72-mile relay race that starts in the scenic Asheville and concludes in the charming city of Greenville, SC. And guess what? This year, the event has set a record with a whopping 2,300 participants across 380 teams – that’s incredible!

It’s All About Community and Craft Beer

The Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay is not just a race; it’s a spirited celebration of the thriving craft brewing culture in the region. Every runner and team member contributes to a noble cause as a portion of the proceeds goes towards local charities. This year’s charity partners include some heartwarming organizations such as Prisma Children’s Cancer Center, The Autism Society of NC, and Make-A-Wish, to name a few. It’s a fantastic way for participants to not only engage in fitness but also support their community at the same time.

Record-Breaking Participation

After selling out in just eight hours this year, it’s clear that the Ville to Ville Relay has captured the hearts of many! Runners from 34 states and Puerto Rico are making the trip, with over 70% traveling more than 150 miles to partake in the event. This remarkable turnout highlights how people are eager to come together, make lasting memories, and relish in the fun that this relay race offers.

What to Expect from the Race

The relay kicks off at the bustling AC Reynolds Middle School in East Asheville, where teams will gather to prepare for the challenge ahead. The course is divided into 12 legs ranging from three to nine miles each, allowing teams of three to six runners to each take a leg. Participants can look forward to stunning views as they run through picturesque towns including Fletcher, Hendersonville, East Flat Rock, and Travelers Rest. The first leg of the relay even leads into the breathtaking Mountains to Sea Trail and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Each team will be equipped with a support vehicle to transport runners efficiently from checkpoint to checkpoint along the course. What makes this relay even more exciting is the final finish line celebration at Hampton Station in Greenville, SC, where everyone can kick back and soak in the atmosphere once they cross the finish line.

Health and Fitness – A Focus for All

The Ville to Ville Craft Brew Relay is more than just a running event; it emphasizes community engagement and a commitment to health and fitness. While similar relay races occur across the country, very few focus on the craft beer industry and attract such a large turnout. Race Director Zack Hall expressed gratitude for reaching full capacity, illuminating the relay’s impact on local charities and its audiences.
