Woman arrested after injuring herself during attempted Asheville business break-ins
ASHEVILLE, N.C.
Asheville police apprehended a woman in the early-morning hours of June 18 after reports of break-ins at two businesses. According to a news release from the Asheville Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of Tunnel Road at approximately 5:45 a.m. June 18. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Rachael Lynn Stephenson, 41, and took her into custody.
Injuries and Arrest:
Officers transported her to Mission Hospital for treatment of injuries she sustained during the break-ins. During their investigation, officers determined that Stephenson had broken into the business where they located her and a nearby second business. Officers said Stephenson had also attempted to gain entry into an occupied security vehicle at the second business she was attempting to break into.
Charges:
Stephenson was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $20,000 bond and charged with the following:
- Felony breaking and entering
- Larceny after break/enter
- Break or enter a motor vehicle
- Injury to personal property
- Second degree trespass
- Injure/tamper with vehicle
- Resisting public officer
