The Annual Women’s Health Awareness Conference will take place at the Western North Carolina (WNC) satellite site on April 13 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The WNC Health Policy Initiative (HPI) will host the event at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC), 121 Hendersonville Road, Asheville, NC 28803, in partnership with various organizations dedicated to women’s health.
This free and popular wellness conference is celebrating 10 years and has already helped more than 6,000 women and their families in North Carolina and across the U.S. The conference will offer health education, services, resources, and advocacy skills to attending participants. Free health screenings, including mammograms for qualifying women, will be provided.
To determine if you are eligible for a free 3D mammogram, you must register for the event and complete the mammogram eligibility questionnaire by March 15. Eligible women will be contacted to schedule an appointment. Appointment slots are limited, and there will be no on-site registration for mammograms on the day of the event.
This event welcomes individuals from WNC and focuses on minority, underserved, and underrepresented women. Sessions will cover topics such as cancer, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, dementia, and more. There will also be a session on the North Carolina Medicaid program with one-on-one counselor assistance.
All participants can pre-register for the conference at no cost by March 15. Onsite registration will be available on the day of the event. Pre-registration is required to reserve a space for lunch. For more information, visit the official program website.
